Jay Leno recovering from burn injuries

Jay Leno is recovering from burn injuries after a gasoline fire, according to a statement from the hospital where he is being treated.

Aimee Bennett, a spokeswoman for the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles, told CNN that Leno was in stable condition, being treated for “burns to his face and hands from a gas accident in his garage sometime around week”.

“He is in good spirits and is touched by all the inquiries about his condition and good wishes,” the statement said. “He wants everyone to know that he’s doing well and that he’s at the ‘best burn center in America.'”

CNN has reached out to Leno’s representatives for comment.

An avid car collector, Leno was working on one of his vehicles in his garage when it reportedly caught fire.

“I had some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I’m fine. I just need a week or two to recover,” the former “The Tonight Show” host told Variety.

Leno, 72, canceled an appearance at The Financial Brand Forum conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, according to a People report, citing organizers.

“His family was unable to give us many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling,” said an email to conference attendees obtained by the publication. “All we know is that he’s alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.”

The conference had announced Leno as the special opening night performer for attendees who purchased a Gold Pass to the event.
