Alanis Morissette explains her withdrawal from the Rock Hall of Fame ceremony

The singer had been announced to perform “You’re So Vain” with Olivia Rodrigo as a tribute to Carly Simon.

But that didn’t happen.

“There are some misinformed rumors about my not performing at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this past weekend,” Morissette wrote in an Instagram story on Monday.

“First of all, I have to say how much I adore Carly Simon and Olivia Rodrigo and Dolly Parton and Janet Jackson and Pat Benatar and Sheryl Crow and Pink and Brandi Carlile and Sara Bareilles and all the amazing people and artists that were there,” she said. to say. wrote about the women expected to be there.

“I have spent decades in an industry that is filled with general anti-woman sentiment and have tolerated a lot of condescension and disrespect, belittling, belittling, breach of contract, lack of support, exploitation and psychological violence (and more) throughout of my career.” Morissette continued to write. “I tolerated it because nothing would stop me from connecting with those I cared about and resonated with. Morissette concluded her note by writing, “Fortunately, I’m at a point in my life where I don’t need to spend time in an environment that diminishes women,” adding that she’s “had countless incredible experiences with production crews with all genres throughout my life.”

“So much fun,” he wrote. “There is nothing better than a diverse team of people brought together with a mission. I will continue to show up in these environments with bells on.”
